What is a Skin Roller, and How Does it Work?
A Skin Roller is also referred to as a face roller, or microneedle roller, as well as microneedling therapy. It’s made for derma use and is safe to use on the face, neck, and body.
It’s based on an ancient skin needling technique that can help prevent skin aging, restore collagen, smooth out scars, pitted skin, and stretch marks. It’s simple and easy to use.
The concept of skin rolling with a dermal roller consists of a dynamic process when microneedles are placed on a small drum shaped cylinder, and rolled across the skin. This process helps to remove dead skin cells and promote new skin. Dermatologist, Loretta Ciraldo explains in the video below.
In order to rejuvenate derma, roller needles penetrate the top skin layer. The fine needles on the skin roller create tiny punctures and open the upper layer of the skin. When the pores of your skin are opened in this way, it triggers your body’s natural healing process and induces the release of growth factors that stimulate the production of collagen and elastin.
It is common knowledge that the body reacts to any injury and triggers the wound healing process. This process of remodeling can go on for up to 12 months after each treatment, and dramatic results can be seen within one week.
INCREASES in your skincare products absorption 150 to 200(X)times as it is driven into the outermost layer of the epidermis. Otherwise, your creams virtually sit on top of your face or on your pillow.
Skin rolling, or microneedling can be safely performed on all skin types and all skin colors. As the epidermis left intact, there is no risk of pigment change or post inflammatory hyper pigmentation. Skin microneedling can treat sensitive areas that other treatments have to avoid, such as below the eyes, the neck and the back of the hands.
Other Benefits of the Skin Roller are:
• Helps to stimulate blood flow to the skin
• Opens clogged pores
• Exfoliates dead skin cells
• Removes old collagen and stimulates new collagen growth
• Can be used anytime in your own home at your convenience for just pennies each time
• is not painful, just a slight tickling sensation
• Is very cost effective. A full face medical needling session can cost up to $600.00 to $1,000
• This concept of skin needling is scientifically proven and based on thousands of years of acupuncture technology
• Does not cause skin damage
Choosing the right size needle is important to achieve effective results. The 1.0mm, 1.5mm needle is recommended for treating cellulite skin.
