The dream of every woman is to have and maintain a healthy, smooth and flawless skin. Cellulite has proven to be one of the worst nightmares of any woman who loves her skin. You might be wondering, why only women? Cellulite is common among women and teenagers. Chances of it occurring on a woman increases on aging.
In men, it rarely occurs and when it occurs, it is not easily noticeable thanks to their thick skin.
What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is a skin condition where the skin has a dimpled appearance and is mainly found on the skin on hips, thighs, legs, buttocks, and arms. It is mainly found in the pelvic region and is most common in women.
It occurs in the form of lumps which is due to herniated subcutaneous fat on the skin and the appearance resembles an orange peel. Due to its resemblance to cottage cheese, it is also called as cottage cheese skin.
What Causes Cellulite?
Cellulite is caused by trapped chemical toxins, fluids and fat under the skin. It mainly occurs due to deposition of excess fat with other toxins under the skin. This is due to poor removal of toxins from the body. When the fat is trapped under the skin, it tends to harden leading to the formation of the bumps being seen on the skin. Eating foods with excess fat aggravates this condition.
There are two types of cellulites. These are the hard cellulite and the soft cellulite. Hard cellulite is a type of cellulite attached to the muscles. Removing this cellulite is hard because it is attached to the muscle. The soft cellulite is a cellulite that normally sags from the body. It is not attached to the muscles and hence easy to remove.
